Just two days after a season-opening loss to Duke, the UCF Men’s Soccer team was back at it against Elon.

Unfortunately for the Knights, things didn’t quite turn around as they fell 1-0.

UCF (0-2-0) controlled most of the game, outshooting Elon (1-0-1) 13-3, but fell behind in the 28th minute. The game-winner came on the Phoenix’s first of just two shots on goal. The Knights continued to pile up scoring chances in the second half, but failed to find the equalizer.

Juniors Ricardo Oliveros, Gorka Aperribay and sophomore Cal Jennings all registered shots on goal, but none could find the back of the net. Elon goalkeeper Matthew Jegier posted his second shutout.

The Knights are still searching for their first win under new coach Scott Calabrese, who came to Orlando from FIU in the offseason. The team won both of its exhibition games before dropping two straight this weekend to start the regular season.

UCF returns to campus this week for its home opener, hosting Charlotte (1-0-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.
