UCF Football moves up in AP, Coaches polls

After being ranked last week for the first time since 2013, the UCF Knights (4-0, 2-0 AAC) moved up to No. 22 in the AP Poll this week and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

The Knights followed up an impressive win over Memphis last week with a weather-shortened 51-23 win at Cincinnati last night.

Despite losing an entire quarter of play, the Knights’ dominant performance against the Bearcats was enough to move them up in both polls.

UCF also benefitted from losses from several teams ranked ahead of the team, including Florida and Louisville. The new poll now has UCF ahead of both Florida and Florida State, neither of which are ranked.

San Diego State and USF, the two other group-of five-teams in contention for a New Year’s Six Bowl bid, still remained ranked higher than UCF, meaning the Knights will have work to do over the remaining games if the team wants a shot at a major bowl.

UCF and USF will play each other later this season.

With Navy also entering the AP and Coaches polls this week, the Knights will have multiple opportunities to move up, with potential ranked match-ups with Navy and USF remaining.

UCF will play ECU at home next week.
