UCF Men’s Basektball tops VCU 73-58 For First NCAA Tournament Win

The UCF men’s basketball team secured its first NCAA March Madness Tournament win in program history Friday night, topping VCU 73-58 in the first round of the tournament.

After opening the game 0-10 from the field, the Knights bounced back and took the lead with 13 minutes remaining in the first half.

Once UCF took the lead, they never again trailed, even going on a 19-0 run to open the second half. Senior point guard BJ Taylor led the way for the Knights with 15 points.

The Knights’ improve to 24-8 on the year and will face top seeded Duke University this Sunday March 24th. This marks the first time that UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins will go head to head against his alma mater and former coach, Mike Krzyzewski.

Tipoff is set for 5:15 PM in Colombia, South Carolina.
