For the first time in program history, UCF Football earned a spot in the AP Preseason Top 25. The Knights, who are coming off a perfect 13-0 season that included a Peach Bowl win and self-proclaimed national championship, came in at 21st in the poll.

UCF was also the highest ranked Group of Five team in the poll, coming in one spot ahead of Boise State. While the Knights had to chase several teams last year in hopes of landing the Group of Five’s New Year’s Six bid, they will start this season on top.

While earning its first ever ranking is undoubtedly a huge accomplishment, UCF was likely hoping to place higher given how last season ended. The Knights came in at 6th in last year’s final poll and return much of the talent from their 2017 squad, including star quarterback McKenzie Milton.

The Knights will kick off the 2018 season at UConn on August 30.
