After two seasons with UCF Football, running back Jawon Hamilton announced on Twitter that he is transferring to James Madison University.
“It’s Been An Amazing 2 Years At The University Of Central Florida,” Hamilton said in his tweet. “… I Would Like To Announce That I’ll Be Transferring and Playing My Next 3 Years at James Madison University.”
Hamilton had an up-and-down time in his two years with the Knights. He was one of the more promising freshman of 2016, rushing for four touchdowns and 405 yards. He was expected to be one of the team’s top running backs in 2017, but ended up missing most of the season after suffering a leg injury against Maryland.
He was granted a medical redshirt year at the time, giving him three seasons of eligibility with JMU. Since the Bulldogs are an FCS team, he will be able to play immediately.
His absence should not hurt UCF too much, which still has a number of talented running backs set to make a big impact in 2018.
