For the first time since 2016, UCF is heading into the season with brand new uniforms, and the Knights are opting to break in their new threads with a steady and classic combo.
The team announced that it will be matching white helmets with black jerseys and pants against SC State on Thursday. White/Black/Black was certainly a nice combo with the 2016-2021 era uniforms (and memorable for being worn in the 2018 AAC title game) but to me this new set of unis fits it much better.
The gold stars on the pants tie in nicely to the number trim and chrome gold decals, while the removal of TV numbers on this set makes the whole combo just feel a lot sleeker and more streamlined. I’m a big fan of when looks flow from one part to the next with ease and this combo certainly does that.
UCF opting to keep things simple and straightforward for the first combo of the new era of uniforms was a smart choice. I’m very excited to see whatever crazy decals the team has in store and, of course, the much-hyped Knightmode jerseys later into the season. You don’t want to give away your craziest looks in Game 1.
Notes and Thoughts
- This is the first time UCF’s gone with White/Black/Black since the UConn game in 2019
- The Knights debuted their last new set of uniforms against SC State as well in 2016. The team went with whiteout for that game
- This combo marks the debut of UCF’s new 3D helmet bumpers. This includes the area code on the front bumper and a CHARGEON bumper on the back
- UCF is going with white helmets in its season opener for the 8th time in the last 10 years
