Coming off one of their biggest wins in program history, the No. 24 UCF Knights (3-1) came into a matchup against Arizona (1-1-1) looking to continue their success. They did just that, beating the Wildcats 2-1 Friday night.
After a scoreless first half in Tempe, Arizona, the beginning of the second half didn’t start off well for the Knights when Wildcats midfielder Gabi Stoian opened up scoring in the 66th minute.
UCF responded 12 minutes later when senior midfielder Kayla Adamek gathered a deflection and put the ball in the back of the net. The Knights went on to take the lead seven minutes later on a goal from freshman midfielder Madison Murnin.
Senior forward Christine Creighton and freshman forward Dina Orschmann each finished with an assist. The UCF goalkeepers were not called into action much tonight as keepers, junior Vera Varis and sophomore Chloe N’Gazi each finished with one save each.
Nine different Knights recorded shots, outshooting the Wildcats 19-9 with seven of those shots being on goal as opposed to just three from Arizona.
UCF’s back in action Sunday evening at 5 p.m. in Tempe, Arizona where they will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils.
