Due to a strong 3-0 start to the 2017 season, recognition is continuing to pile up for UCF. Sophomore quarterback McKenzie Milton was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Friday morning. The award is given to the most outstanding player in all of college football.

Milton has been a major part of the Knights’ hot start, throwing for 791 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 186 yards in three games. He is averaging 263.7 passing yards per game and ranks in the top 25 in the country for multiple categories. His total quarterback rating of 74.4 is good for 22nd in the nation, while his passing efficiency of 173.0 is seventh.

The Hawaii product was one of 13 players named to the watch list on Friday. Semifinalists are announced on Oct. 30, with the winner being announced on Dec. 7.

The latest recognition for a UCF player comes days after sophomore Adrian Killins and redshirt junior Matthew Wright were selected as conference players of the week for offense and special teams, respectively. The Knights are No. 25 in both the AP and Coaches Poll, which marks their first top 25 ranking since the end of the 2013 season.

UCF (3-0, 1-0 AAC) is set to face Cincinnati (2-3, 0-1 AAC) this Saturday on the road. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
